FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.      What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?

Here at Freeminded Hypnotherapy South London I use hypnotherapy to relax the conscious mind and then give the subconscious mind helpful suggestions. When under hypnosis, you put your mind and body into a heightened state of learning, making you more susceptible to suggestions for self-improvement or behavior change. The goal is to put the subconscious and conscious mind in synchronicity, which in turn helps give you greater control over your behavior and emotions.

Q.      What is Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) and how does it work?

Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) is a realitively new therapy that allows you to access feelings and emotions linked to prior events

and then let your own brain find new and better suited responses basically changing those negative responses to positive ones. This frees you of stress, anxiety, phobias and more allowing you to get on with your life unhindered.

Q.      How does hypnotherapy help anxiety and stress?

Hypnotherapy for anxiety aims to find the root cause of the problem and change your relationship with anxiety. Hypnotherapy helps anxiety by boosting feelings of confidence and self-belief.  It can help you develop the ability to access the calm state of mind needed to overcome the often-overwhelming emotions that come with anxiety. Using the power of suggestion, hypnosis aims to access your subconscious mind and promote positive change. The suggestions themselves can be tailored to help you learn what triggers your anxiety and why, as well as changing the way you react towards them.

Q.      How many sessions will I need?

As each case is different from the last we work towards getting the maximum benifit from each session and this helps determine how many sessions will be needed thereafter. Some issues can resolved relatively easy, others require more time.

Q.      What is the treatment like (BWRT & Hypnotherapy)?

The treatment will consist of speaking to you about yourself and your past experiences, during this time I shall be using the information you tell me to form a treatment plan that will help you with your issue. We will then begin the 'therapy' part in which you will sit in a comfortable chair and be asked to relax. You may be asked to recall previous events or feelings related to them and then we allow your own brain to make it's own changes. You will always be in complete control and never do anything that you don't want to do. Afterwards you will be able to go about your day as usual.

Q.      How does hypnotherapy work for low self-esteem and confidence?

Hypnotherapy accesses the unconscious mind and uses the power of suggestion to facilitate positive change. These suggestions can be tailored to help improve confidence levels. Generally, these suggestions will be positive and made in the present tense. For example, the phrase "you feel confident in everything you do" would be used rather than "you no longer doubt yourself". The theory behind this is that the unconscious can't differentiate between "you have" and "you no longer have".
